When it comes to safety and operation sounds, soft-close drawer slides are better than self-close. This is because it ensures smooth and silent operation. Moreover, the slow nature of closing makes it safe to store delicate equipment. And in houses with young children, they pose no significant hazards. Although a self-close slide may also have some of these features, it isn’t necessary.

Drawer Size/Applications

In applications where the drawer size is small and no delicate equipment is stored, then self-close drawer slides are a better option. This is because these slides are shorter in length than soft-close slides, which have an extra damper. 

Hence, they are ideal for small drawers where silent operation is not a priority.
